Thessaloniki Skyline
2021 Belgrade
Competition entry

A wave strikes the concrete edge of Thessaloniki’s industrial harbour and rises for an instant before falling back into the Gulf. The project holds that instant. Its highest crests are arrested in space and drawn across the pier as a continuous topography of folds, hollows and peaks. The sea seems to have crossed the harbour wall and remained there, suspended over the industrial ground. Architecture takes the form of a captured movement, carrying into the port the memory of water, impact and retreat.
